Made sense to have the eighth doctor to wear leather jacket, different accent & non-aristocratic appearance.
Bit sad he lasted one season, but that's actor's decision.

I want the COMPLETE SERIES... not Disc1 or Disc 5 but ALL of the discs in this series, as advertised by the words THE COMPLETE SERIES.

I at first thought this series was kinda weird, but as I watched more of it, it turned out to be a actually really good series. Even though I just finished the first season, I'm really looking forward to the next ones.

Doctor Who is one of my favorite British television shows. Not one episode is boring to me. Though the 9th Doctor and Rose are my least favorite Doctor and companion. Still I would recommend this show to anyone who likes the science fiction.

My friend told me I had to watch "Doctor Who," but I resisted. I don't care for aliens and I was sure I was going to hate it. I finally asked if I could start with the 10th Doctor, because at least I knew I liked David Tennant in other things. She said no, I had to start with 9.

I'm so glad I did. He charmed me from the start, and I do think I would've had some questions about things that come up later if I hadn't started here. As for this series being darker than the others, there is still humor and great one-liners. I don't find it particularly dark, and Eccleston's subtlety in some of the "darker" moments is beautiful anyway.

This is a great season, and as much as I don't want to say this because it's so cheesy and expected, the 9th Doctor is "absolutely fantastic." :)

I Liked This Incarnation. Personally I Think He's The Best Doctor, Shame He Didn't Stay Longer, But At Least Matt Smith Came Along And Took Over. I'm Gonna Hate Peter Capaldi.....

Before I started watching Doctor Who, I heard that a lot of people skipped the first series. They are missing out. Nine was a "simply fantastic" Doctor. This season lays the groundwork for the relationship between Rose and the Doctor (Christopher and Billie's chemistry is amazing). Besides that, the Daleks are introduced to the reboot in this series, as is Captain Jack Harkness. The Bad Wolf motif that is brought up in later series is also huge in this series. This is the series that introduced me to Doctor Who, and I highly recommend it.

It's important to note that this first series is the revival of the entire show in 2005. The premise is that the Ninth Doctor (who does a fantastic portrayal) is coming back from a "Time War" where his whole species is obliterated.

So saying it's not funny, or that it's too dark is exactly what it is. Some parts of the show aren't meant to be funny or light hearted because the character of the Doctor has come back from this species-ending war, and that's where Billie Piper (Rose) comes in. She helps to essentially heal the Doctor. She changes his personality.

With that, it sets up nearly the entire story line of series 1 to 4. I think what I'm trying to say is that skipping series 1 means missing the damage and suffering that we see in the Ninth Doctor and a relationship that develops with his companions in further series'.

I liked this doctor. True, he's not as funny as the rest of them, but in my opinion, a good start for the new series. I can't see why some (many) people don't seem to like them, beside the fact that the doctors after him are funnier, and are more like the originals.

Rose Tyler: Really though, Doctor. Tell me. Who are you?
The Doctor: Do you know like we were saying, about the earth revolving? It's like when you're a kid, the first time they tell you that the world is turning and you just can't quite believe it 'cause everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it...
[he takes her hand]
The Doctor:
the turn of the earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour. The entire planet is hurtling around the sun at sixty seven thousand miles an hour. And I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me, clinging to the skin of this tiny little world. And, if we let go...
[He releases her hand]
The Doctor: That's who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home.

"Rose! Before I go, I just want to say you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I!"
