This book is an illustrated account of the ascent of the west face of the 21,000ft peak, Siula Grande, in the Peruvian Andes. The author and his climbing partner, Simon Yates, achieved the summit in June 1985 before disaster struck. A few days later, Yates staggered into base camp, exhausted and frostbitten, to tell their non-climbing companion that Joe was dead.

An incredible story but when it comes to the writing I'd point you in the direction of Krakauer's "Into Thin Air" much sooner than to "Into the Void." Again, a crazy tale of events and an amazing climb for a 22 and 25 year old to accomplish, but the writing wasn't great. I feel like his publisher told him to push it out to 200 words.

One of my go to books for action, drama, grit. You will never complain about being uncomfortable or tired again. The movie is good too.
