Not good. Extremely slow and boring that it lulled me to sleep.

Daft. That's the word for a film like SINISTER, one that doesn't feel like it put any effort into its development. It's films like SINISTER that diminish the horror genre as a whole, spitting in the faces of filmmakers like Spielberg and Hitchcock, who broke ground with JAWS and PSYCHO, respectively. This? Pfft. Don't waste your time. SINISTER is a disaster. I don't recommend it.

I love horror movies. I missed this one when it first came out. Thanks to the Ottawa public library or I would not have known it existed

I'd say that Sinister was a perfect example of why I've now gotten to the point of absolutely loathing supernatural-horror movies to the max.

Not only was Sinister's preposterous story a total insult to anyone in their right mind. But its plot-line actually expected the viewer to completely suspend disbelief for the sake of some predictable, 3rd-rate scares and a mess of icky gore.

Sinister introduced such a ridiculous overload of implausible nonsense into its demented, little story that I'm convinced that its screenwriters couldn't have had anything but pure contempt for the intelligence of their intended audience. It was so clear to me that they obviously perceived the viewer as being just a stupid, gullible fool.

It sure didn't help matters at all that every single member of the Oswalt family in Sinister's story came across as being nothing but an annoyingly dysfunctional misfit. And, so, in turn, how could I possibly give a bloody damn about what sort of nasty devilishness eventually happened their way?

I found “Sinister” to be a bit repetitive. There are better movies out there with a similar theme.

One of the best horror movies out there today is "Sinister". Ethan Hawke plays in the movie. The movie is about three separate murders that happen in different locations. Ethan Hawke is writing a book on those murders. But what he doesn't tell his wife is that the house they moved in to is the house were one of the murders happened. So as their unpacking Ethan Hawke goes up in the attic were he finds these tapes.
So after they get settled in their new home. Ethan Hawke stays up at night setting up his room where he has his evidence that he's using to write he's book. After he pulls out those tapes he found and starts watching them. As he's watching those tapes he notice that in every murder the family of five every one gets murdered except one kid. So he notes that down and tapes in to his evidence bored. Then he watches the other tape of the other murder where the same thing happens where the family gets murdered except one kid.
He starts reviewing the tapes in slow motion were he finds that in every murder theirs a symbol painted. So he looks up the symbol were finds a guy online who knows about it. He contacts the guy and he explains what's the meaning of the symbol. After he starts gathering all these clues. Later in the movie he makes contact with a police officer who agrees to help him out on getting the history of each family. After getting even more clues he starting to find out the next tragic murder will occur in his house. Ethan Hawke doesn't believe it but you'll have to watch it so you can see figure out what happens.
I consider this movie one of the best in horror films in my opinion. The graphics and creepy sound get to you if you're focused. I give this movie a 9 out of 10 on the top horror movie scale.

This movie started out as a five-star and went on that route, but the ending was not that great. Great acting and plot, as a writer of murder victims moves with his family into areas where the horrors occur to give a face to the victims of the tragedies. He moves too close to the vicinity of a family tragedy that has more of a past than he realizes. Some scary moments.
