(The eighth book in the Anna Travis series)

Wonderful read on a cold winter's night! Lynda La Plante can spin the most amazing plots and twists. Her characterizations ring too true to real life. A 'must read' and 'can't put down once started'.

This is the first Anna Travis book I've read, and I couldn't put it down. Excellent view of police work, and all the hours it can take to solve crimes.

Not the best book in the Anna Travis series, but even on a bad day Lynda LaPlante pulls out ahead of most mystery writers by a long shot. She always stays intensely focused on the mystery plot and makes you feel like you are sitting on the shoulders of the investigating team, sharing their frustrations and breakthroughs. There’s no veering off into subplots about the detective’s dysfunctional childhood or druggie sister. I hope this latest novel is just the writer loosing her footing temporarily and that the next one gets back to form.
