Mostlly a compilation of previous published articles, but an excellent summary of the subject of autism and how to deal with it at all ages. The author, a genuine cowgirl, also recounts her struggle with the disorder over a lengthy period of time to become of the leading authorities on the subject as well as a pioneer in cattle equipment technology. Of note is how to deal with behaviours that can be explained by the condition, and what are just bad behaviours in their own right. What is clear here is what the author points out - that autism is part of someone (like me), it doesn't define who he or she is.

Perhaps being diagnosed late (I'm 45 and female) was a good thing because growing up I still had to behave, study, had discipline and high expectations from me for school and after school activities. Author discusses the same things as well as the difficulties being female and getting diagnosed and instructs parents that you HAVE to be involved non-stop in the growth and development and not allow this label to define your child (or you)
