Frightening or Intense Scenes: The first episode begins with a rape followed by a murder, so you know it might get to be a little much for some.

Sexual Content: No actual genitalia, but much is implied. So unless you're willing to have that talk about wet dreams and such with your son, it's not a show for the youngsters.

Violence: It gets graphic at times, so not for little kids.

I'm only invested in the first season, but I'm totally impressed with the style of acting, the direction the show is leading me, and the locations shot outside Vancouver are perfect for giving a feel for a show like this.

I've ordered the second season already, and can't wait. I did look ahead on Wiki and Imdb, not to give away any spoilers, but this prequel ends at 50 episodes (10 per season) that some haven't even aired yet, but it's over soon. Apparently it has a nice wrap into the movie, so if you're a fan of Psycho, don't miss this. It's what makes the Norman Bates that we know into the person he becomes.

The body count keeps growing with every episode, and in some unexpected ways. But I've said too much, just watch it.

They need to rachet up the pacing for the 2nd season, but the show is still enjoyable as is. Norman's mother and brother are particularly well cast. I'm not totally satisfied with Norman, but the kid who plays him isn't awful, I just think they could have done better. I also had a bit of a problem believing that 2 attractive girls, who would be completely out of Norman's league, were all over him when the Bates' moved to town. It honestly just doesn't make any sense whatsoever, as neither of those girls would even talk to him in a real life situation, because Norman is not only super dorky, but also has a very weird, off-putting personality. It sounds like nitpicking, but the relationships with those girls constitutes a lot of the storyline for the first season. Overall, I thought the 1st season was still worth watching, but if they don't make some pacing improvements for next season, they're gonna get cancelled.
