John Puller is a combat veteran and the best military investigator in the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigative Division. His father was an Army fighting legend, and his brother is serving a life sentence for treason in a federal military prison. Puller has an indomitable spirit and an unstoppable drive to find the truth. Now, Puller is called out on a case in a remote, rural area in West Virginia coal country far from any military outpost. Someone has stumbled onto a brutal crime scene, a family slaughtered. The local homicide detective, a headstrong woman with personal demons of her own, joins forces with Puller in the investigation. As Puller digs through deception after deception, he realizes that absolutely nothing he's seen in this small town, and no one in it, are what they seem. Facing a potential conspiracy that reaches far beyond the hills of West Virginia, he is one man on the hunt for justice against an overwhelming force.

First in John Puller series. My favorite of the three in series so far. Plot is interesting. John Puller is likeable and mystery surrounding his brother adds intrigue. Baldacci struggles to develop lifelike female characters but he creates a female lead in Zero Day with subtlety and nuance. Narrated by duo Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy who do a good job.

A very unusual and interesting story. I felt the ending was a bit weak after a book filled with action and suspense. Regardless of the weak ending, I would recommend it.

Another great book by David Baldacci. The story line and characters are very similiar to the Oliver Stone series, not sure why he decided to introduce another character ( John Puller ), but i liked it very much. Wish he would write another book in the Camel Club line....but this will satisfy until then.

I really liked this one. Great characters, interesting story and lots of action. 9 of 10 for me.

Its as though Baldacci was being paid by the word as apposed to writing a tight cohesive novel that I've grown accustomed to reading. The rest of this story is unnecessarily long and only the crisp ending raises this novel to 5 of 10 stars
