Kinda innapropriate and disturbing of what he has done to the girl ( I couldn't read more of it)
but I do not recommend kids reading it at the age 11-13 but still, your choice.

Great audio book. Just felt there was excessive talk about her cats and horses. Got me bored and annoyed after a while.

I thought book would have much more detail on conclusion to her ordeal, minimal discussion on capture and ultimate result. The audio book felt like a was listening to a girl read a diary (which much of it was) I don't want to be a cynic for this girl's story but overall book bordered on boring.

Gripping and inspiring Curiously, I think that Jaycee survived as well as she did because her captor was nuanced in his brutality, and made some efforts to make her happy, like bringing her cats and kittens and caring relatively well for their children. The man was clearly nuts and a predatory pedophile, but it would appear that he came to care for her in his limited way. I found the account of her therapy after being rescued really interesting.

A heart breaking yet hopeful story told by the author. As Jaycee says in the book it is not her secret to keep, and she does an admiral job of describing what her life was/is like.
