This is an excellent educational but lively and well acted movie about the brave and fearless woman in the forefront of Nelson Mandela who held it down for civil rights change. Jennifer Hudson shined supreme.
An informative movie depicting Winnie Mandela. Jennifer Hudson is awesome and her voice singing Would you bleed for me is outstanding
Terrance Howard is grossly MISCAST in the role of Nelson Mandela period. This is extremely disrespectful to not only the real life Nelson Mandela that DIED last year, but to all black people worldwide period.T.D. FAKES i mean Jakes doesn't care, because he is the so-called presenter,or executive producer of this SANITIZED biopic of Nelson Mandela's wife.If you was expecting this screw up job of celluloid to tell you all of the brutally honest truth about Nelson Mandela's wife, you just got your feelings hurt baby period. If my memory serves me correctly i think Jennifer Hudson looks like the real life wife of Nelson Mandela overall. As usual, she gave a really good performance, but i know this is not the uncompromising truth about Winnie Mandela's life period.Don't believe me,DO YOUR HARDCORE RESEARCH ON HER RIGHT NOW.Of course i am against RACISM myself, but T.D FAKES i mean Jakes made sure we didn't see everything about her life period. This is what you get from a 501(c)3 PIMP IN THE PULPIT,not an honorable leader of the endangered species which is suppose to be the black community.POLITICS OWNS US,BUT YOU DON'T HEAR ME THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I must say that Terrence Howard was magnificient as Mandela. I was immensely impressed with him. Hudson also was convincing as Winne (I did not know she was as good as an actor as this) Of course everyone knows how impacting the story of Mandela is and much of the focus is on him especially in the light of Winnie's sins. The real Winnie continues to be be subject to criticism till this day but her passion and positive contributions towards the cause can not and should not be ignored. The focus should be off her wrongs and instead on what she did right. Overall, I felt that the film needed more and I can see why the film is subject to crticism of being a gloss-over. However, we cannot expect films to showcase a cause that spanned decades, its really supposed to be a taste so that you can get out there and READ! I also did not like or see the purpose of profanity in this film (2 instances, where i felt was just unecessary and cliche, it was not more believable but simply trite and uncomfortable) Overall, very good and educational for black history. Oh yah, Hudson can sing (she delivered on the closing credits)
