10-year-old runaways steal the cop car of one *bad* sheriff. Certainly well enough done to warrant a viewing. Good acting, and even Kevin Bacon holds up his end of the bargain. Recommended.

Kevin Bacon always plays really great bad men! In COP CAR, he does it again! In this movie, he's up against 2 kids. Will he outsmart them or will THEY outsmart him?

A cute film for kids and adults alike. Two best friends, boys about 10, are running away from home when they come across an abandoned cop car. With no one around, they get in and start driving. What they don't know is that the cop was two miles away from the car burying a dead body. The dead guy's brother is in the trunk, not quite dead yet. Eventually the kids get caught in the crossfire between the cop trying to get his car back (and the beat up guy in the trunk) while the guy in the trunk tries to exact revenge for his murdered brother. Neither of them cares at all about the boys. And the boys are pretty dumb when it comes to loaded guns.

Probably one of the most memorable movies I've seen within the last year or so. Unpredictable, unnerving, and fantastic.

The type of movie that ticks off a dumb audience who needs everything explained to them.

This movie annoys with perfection! I really believe the characters motivations and actions. Maybe you have to understand the poor, young boys and angry men to really get this.

This movie held my attention, which is saying something. But, the ending kept me wondering. I am sure that was intentional. I really liked the kids. They were quite good in a realistic way, of boys being curious and getting themselves into more than they bargained for. It was different, but good.

Knowing that this was a small budget movie going into viewing it, and having enjoyed Bacon's past psychopathic characters (River Wild, Hollow Man... ), I was expecting a slow-burn thriller along the lines of The Duel- one of, if not the first, "well-known" movies of S. Spielberg.
About a quarter-way through, the film started to remind me of Fargo, with an inferior script. The two adult supporting actors - woman & "unidentified" criminal - were good & the kids okay though forgettable. I would have liked them to be a year or two older and running away from reform school to add a bit more meat to their parts. The script itself would have been better (in my opinion) if it could have pushed the black comedy aspect, as Kevin's occasional forced laugh would tease. Not a great movie, but enjoyable if you temper your expectations. Trivia: Dispatcher voice is Bacon's real-life wife (actor) Kyla Sedgwick (TV's The Closer).

This has got to be one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. It makes no sense at all and follows no real story line that makes sense. I would not waste time with this movie unless you are a Kevon Bacon fan and are wanting to see him with a cheesy '70s porno mustache.

Woman driver yelling at the kids:
I knew it! You little shxxs! I knew I wasn't crazy! You think you can ride down this highway and I won't know about it? I know these roads like the back of my hand! What's wrong with you? Don't think you can play dumb with me. I saw you. You almost ran me off the road. You are in so much trouble! Get out of the car!

Sheriff scared up the kids:
Alright, kids. Fun's over. I know who you are, and you are in a whole hell of a lot of trouble. Do you understand? It's downright stupid to steal a police car, but you've done it. Now, what's done is done. And what we're looking at is a felony offense. A felony offense. And what that means is guaranteed jail time.

Boys A & B commenting on the guy outside:
A: What's he doing?
B: I don't know.
A: Maybe he's looking to go to the bathroom.
B: I hate him. I think he's trying to hide.
A: He sucks at hiding.
B: Why does he need both guns?
He's a gun hog.
