"On her way home from a grocery shopping trip, Nina Borg is attacked from behind in a parking lot. Dazed and half-conscious, she hears her assailant ask for her forgiveness. Only later does she understand that this isn't for what he's just done, but for what he plans to do to. As a Red Cross nurse, Nina typically finds herself fighting for others' lives, not her own. For the first time, she's the primary target of a hit, and it slowly dawns on her that this case is connected to a surprising and dangerous friendship among three young men from Manila. It's a long way from Viborg to Manila, and yet Nina and her pursuer her face the same dilemma: How far will they go to save themselves?"--Provided by publisher.

This book is poor. Surprised it took two authors to write it.

Nina appears to be the target of someone who wishes her harm. The story flips back to Manila where the "V" trio of friends form an unlikely friendship. It takes some time for both stories to converge. It is at times slow-moving but eventually becomes engrossing. I thought both "The Boy in the Suitcase" and "Death of a Nightingale" were more compelling reads.

A conclusion to the best-selling series finds Red Cross nurse Nina Borg recovering from an attack by an assailant who begs forgiveness before Nina discovers their shared tie to a dangerous trio of friends from Manila. By the best-selling authors of The Boy in the Suitcase.
