This was a great book! After looking at title and cover I thought it would be weird, but it was funny and entertaining.

Funny and poignant book about learning how to be in the moment. Alex recognizes that when he thinks about playing music, he screws up, but when he just does it, it flows. It takes him a while, but he finally starts to get that life is kind of like that too. If you are constantly thinking about life -- what others think of you, how unfair everything is, how pathetic you are -- well then, life is pretty hard and you screw up. Whereas if you can notice others, and be. with. them. Then life is pretty good, even with it's ups and downs.

You might think at the beginning that it may not be very appropriate since the 16 year old is drinking but it's truly a touching story and really funny, the characters are SO diverce it makes it really interesing!!
It's one of my favorite books!

Oh in the book there are 2 characters Steven and Annette that are from the authors other book "Drums, girls, and dangerouse pie" that is also one of my favorite books in the world!!
You don't HAVE to read drums, girls, and dangerouse pie before reading Notes from the midnight driver but if ou want ot read Drums, girls and dangerouse pie i suggest reading it first cause Notes from the midnight driver gives some stuff away.

i love, love, love this book. :) it's one of my favourites. You'd think that it's really weird and boring and well, weird, from the title and cover. But it wasn't. It was very entertaining-the characters were hilarious-and heartwarming.
