Interesting, but nothing particularly special.

The boy was adorable. The movie seemed a little too long, and the scenes that were supposed to be cliffhangers weren't. It was more fun than scary; more homage to other movies than original ideas, and the most irritating problem is a spoiler. To find out, watch it for yourself when you are short of other things to occupy your time.

Too many scenes with unnecessarily long pauses, or too brief remarks referring to the background story. There's a more fully explained story in the "extra features" than in the movie itself.
Everyone's scrambling after and coveting this kid, but I feel little sympathy for him.

Got this movie cause it was listed as one of the top 100 science fiction movies - and I had never heard of it. I can't imagine why it got on that list. it was below average.

Just a weird movie with a ridiculous plot.

Rated 3/10. Definitely below average. The movie doesn't offer any real explanations as to what's going on. The show ends as abruptly and confusingly, as it started. This movie would have been an improvement if the plot had been filled out a lot more.

Mysteries are OK, but if a movie provides absolutely *no* answers by the end ...

Whatever the social commentary is aimed at is lost and blurred out by the end of this movie. I wanted to like this movie but but the end is just...?

Boring beyond belief. Even Michael Shannon couldn't save this clunker.

This really dragged in the middle. There were a couple of exciting scenes but the rest was just mood music and mood lighting. I got so bored that at one point I started checking my email.

The only thing I ever believed in was Alton. And I failed him.

A wonderful film. The casting is about the best I've seen. I enjoyed it very much.

Things would break.
--What kinds of things?
Windows, light bulbs. Cars would shut down. That kind of thing. It just got worse the older he got, so they just started letting him sleep in the daytime, and he'd be awake at night. It's why all our services are at night now.
What makes you say that?
--I believe it.
It wasn't images.
--Not what I remember. It was more... It was like a feeling.
What kind of feeling?
He wouldn't have asked you if you couldn't do it. … Sometimes we are asked to do things that are beyond us.

He believes in something. You don't.
--It doesn't matter. Good people die every day believing in things.
You don't have to worry about me.
--I like worrying about you.
You don't have to anymore.
--I'll always worry about you, Alton. That's the deal.
