Borrowed this to close out the summer; Watched it ten times till due date on loan. the water scenes are so life like it wants you to go out and experience the waters; paddle the rigger like the primative sailors use the hand as a measure to guide the stars. I really reminds adults and plants the seed to youngesters to abide by nature otherwise changes occur. The songs / show in different languages , in subtitle and most of all the "hamilton broadway" show originator added his magic to the already Disney magical pixie.

5 rigger boats for excellence

One of the best movies Disney has ever created. I have watched it three times and with each viewing I enjoy it more and more. It is a very touching and uplifting story. Plus, Dwayne Johnson, Jemaine Clement, and Alan Tudyk are hilarious.

Another fabulous movie from Disney. Walt has to be smiling down at the team putting out movies these days. They're choosing original story's
and doing a great job. This will be part of my library. Hope you and your family enjoy if as much as I did. Oh and the music great.

Moana is a story of a girl who has spent her entire life enchanted by the ocean beyond the reef of her island. Her father has always protected her from becoming too attached, but through the help of her “crazy” grandmother and her ancestors, Moana heads out to the sea to restore the heart of Te Fiti. Along the way she meets insanely humorous and intelligently portrayed characters like Maui, the snail and more. The songs are all great sing-alongs and enjoyed by everyone I think! The idea of having a chief’s daughter be a “Disney Princess” was really unique considering Moana was never called the “Princess” in this movie. Appreciate that Disney is becoming more diverse! The film wraps mythical elements in the frame story of an increasingly island-bound people re-discovering their traditional seafaring ways in the face of dwindling resources. As with "Kubo And The Two Strings" and "Life of Pi", you may be left wondering whether the intervening journey was simply metaphorical. In this case, with the help of a few catchy songs and a crazy chicken, we learn to have faith in ourselves and realize the duality of nature. If this causes you to research the depicted culture or even take up sailing, so much the better.

Moana: Okay, first, I am not a princess. I'm the daughter of the chief.
Maui: Same difference.
Moana: No.
Maui: If you wear a dress, and have an animal sidekick, you're a princess.

Long ago, the goddess of creation, Te Fiti, spread life all over the earth. The key to this was her heart. The heart was very powerful, but Maui, a demigod, wanted that power. He stole the heart from her and what came was darkness and monsters. The greatest monster, Te Ka, a lava monster hit Maui. With this, he lost his hook... and the heart.
A 1,000 years later, Gramma Tala is telling the story to the children of the village of Motanui. She forsees that one of the children will go out and find Maui and return the heart of Te Fiti. A little girl, daughter of the Chief Tui and Sina, named Moana is chosen by the ocean. Ever since then, she has been drawn to the ocean and expresses her love for it in every way of her life. She does not realize that she was chosen until many years later before Gramma Tala dies.
Moana sets off to find Maui in determination to save her island. Once she finds Maui, she realizes Maui stole the heart so he could give the power of life to the mortals and his hook is missing. Maui takes Moana's boat to get his hook and tries to keep Moana out of it by putting her in a cave. Moana manages to escape the cave and tries to get on her boat, but misses her landing spot. The ocean helps her get on her boat. Maui attempts to throw her out, but the ocean keeps putting her back. Maui knew he lost the "fight" when he tried to escape the boat and the ocean put him back on too.
Moana realizes Maui was afraid of the heart because he told her it was a curse and bad things would come for it. Moana thought he was kidding and started shouting for someone to get it, but then the Kakamoras, murdering little pirates, come.
