With a new mother to care for her siblings, Corrie Belle Hollister finds herself free to do what ever she wants. She begins to think about her future. Then she decides to start a story on the John Fremont issue. She faces many dangers and finds herself, as well as Robin O' Flarridy in the middle of a scandal. As they ride for their lives they begin a friendship, which is quickly ended when Robin steals Corrie's notes, horse, and leaves her in the middle of nowhere with just her saddlebag. Will she make it home?
