A gifted illustrator, a magical experience to read and become acquainted with. He was able to revisit his child-mind in his creative process. Starts with the story of his parents. Discusses his creative source and formula, as well some fundamentals of child psychiatry, and specialists' interpretations of his work. There was alot of controversy when he was first published, and he did get psychoanalysis in his 20's. Oh his frustrations as a toddler when he caught a glimpse of a grisly image of the Lindbergh kidnapping in the 'morning edition' at a news stand, then to exclaim it to his parents, only to be disbelieved when it is absent from the 'afternoon edition'! Mozart had not an enemy yet feared falling asleep.

...there's a very brief tale called 'The Goblins', in which a bunch of goblins steal a child out of a cradle and leave a changeling with a thick head and staring eyes in its place. And a friend of the grieving mother tells her to take the changeling into the kitchen, set him on the hearth, light a fire, and boil hot water in two eggshells, which will make the changeling laugh, and when the changeling laughs, the story tells us, that's the end of him...."And the other thing is music" he continued. "If you play an instrument and the baby begins to dance to it, you know it can't be your baby...." pages 87-89
