I enjoy learning from film stories that are “inspired”, or “based on” actual events. I knew nothing about Botswana at the beginning of Apartheid or King Seretse Khama and his white wife. Beautiful countryside, well-crafted though predictable.

A good story that should be better known, although a little too melodramatic.

both educational and entertaining. a wonderfully acted love story with lessons in political maneuvers.

Remarkable, well crafted movie about the founding of The Democratic Republic of Botswana. Top notch acting in the portrayal of the underhanded manner in which the UK tried to ban the prince from his home country for life and the eventual triumph of the leaders of Botswana.

I was little disappointed - it was way too long for my taste and perhaps because English is my second language I totally did not understand the deal Khama made with the British government. So I missed the entire point (sigh). I also found this movie to be overly too melodramatic. There were two surprises for this: for too much melodrama this was not an USA movie. And my home country was signed under the production as well. Which is unusual (but great).

As a fan of The #1 Ladies Detective Agency books, I have heard a lot about Mr. Seretse Khama so this movie got my attention. The story and the acting were both great however, it left me wanting more. The movie seems to stop just as the story starts getting interesting. Diamonds are being found, their neighbouring country, South Africa, embraces apartheid and yet little Botswana manages to remain independent and prosperous under Seretse's leadership. That's the story I want to hear.

Lovely film. Well acted. Great insight into the history of Botswana which stood in contrast to the apartheid of South Africa. Mr. Churchill does is not a hero of this story. Highly recommend!! Kristi & Abby Tabby

Inspiring! A historical fact-based movie that is very timely for today's world. We didn't know about this series of events in the late 1940s so the movie was educational as well as entertaining. A political drama and love story in one. Watch the extra for a glimpse of the main characters' son.

This was an inspiring and enjoyable movie but it was also lengthy. It was also a entertaining to watch Rosamund Pike in a role vastly different from the one she played in "Gone Girl."

Very interesting piece of history about which I knew nothing. Everything about it so very well done. We need more movies of this calibre.
