The richest of New York's rich gather at The Pierre's Cotillion Room to raise money for those less fortunate. A fatal blast rocks the room, stirring up horrifying memories of 9/11. Is the explosion an act or terrorism--or a homicide?

A big-name female filmmaker is the next to die, in a desolate corner of New York City. Detectives Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonald of the elite NYPD task force investigate, and the intimate details of the director's life remind them of their own impossible situation--their personal relationship seems as unsolvable as the murders.

The crimes keep escalating as a shadowy killer masterfully plays out his vendetta--and threatens to take down NYPD Red in the bargain.

I thought this book was great. I liked how the detectives went on to solve the cases that they had. I would have never guessed that certain crimes had two aspects to them; meaning that there are several criminals tied to it in different ways. But the ending I found disappointing since they didn't find him. I won't reveal too much, but I was expecting all of the criminals to be caught. Guess someone got his revenge and got away with it. Another thing I liked was that the characters were very human. I could feel their emotions. Zach is a good detective and a good person I found. Also, there is a tonne of sexiness in this book. If I could call a book R rated, this would be it. It made it very interesting.

Good book with nice story line, strong characters and a few twist and turns for good measure.
Enjoyed this book!

RED ALERT is another super read by James Patterson and Marshall Kapp. Non-stop action and multiple story lines, all of which are engaging and well developed. Great book! That said, I have to say that I hate the core idea of the NYPD Red series (though I will keep reading them as they are too entertaining to skip) - a unit of high achieving cops who exist to cater to the needs of high wealth folks, and who have the elected politicians of NY pressuring them constantly to drop more important investigative lines to cater to the whims of spoiled and self-focused rich people. And the cops having to going along with the pressure.

Yet another fast-paced, action-packed thriller by James Patterson.

It is a fun read. Typical James Patterson. The action moves quickly. Very creative.

This fifth book in the NYPD Red series is pure entertainment. The story line is edgy....I'm old but even I learned some things about life on the edge! The integrated story lines are sure to keep you reading. How does Patterson do it? Have you seen all of the books this guy has written?
Enjoy!

Hey, Kylie, you'll never guess what I stumbled on when I was running your boyfriend's name through the system to see if I could find something that would put him behind bars.

But telling my new girlfriend that I felt compelled to investigate my old girlfriend's new boyfriend had all the earmarks of a bad soap opera where the Zach character winds up losing his new girlfriend, his old girlfriend, and his balls.
