THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER AND DECEMBER PICK FOR REESE WITHERSPOON'S HELLO SUNSHINE BOOK CLUB

"A fun and fast-paced psychological thriller about two determined women who play a high stakes game of deception that only one can win." --Reese Witherspoon

"Will keep you up. In a 'can't put it down' way. It's 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' with XX chromosomes."--The Skimm

"Deliciously duplicitous. . . . equally as twisty, spellbinding, and addictive as Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl or Paula Hawkins's The Girl on the Train."--Library Journal (starred review)

Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more--a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.

To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne--a socialite and philanthropist--and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.

Amber's envy could eat her alive . . . if she didn't have a plan. Amber uses Daphne's compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family's life--the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long, Amber is Daphne's closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters, and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked towards, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.

With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, The Last Mrs. Parrish is a fresh, juicy, and utterly addictive thriller from a diabolically imaginative talent.

Daphne is an aristocrat with the perfect life. Rich, handsome husband, two beautiful kids, a lavish house, enough money to buy and do anything she wants. Amber is a covetous nobody from small town Missouri who wants nothing more than to become a debutante. She sets her sights on Daphne, weasels her way into her life, and the games begin. Oh Amber, didn't your mother ever tell you to be careful what you wish for?

This thriller is written in what I call no nonsense prose. As the reader you are on a need to know basis when it comes to the characters, the setting, and the overall plot. But you know what, it works. What it lacks in description, it makes up for with impeccable pacing that makes you turn the page. It's a quick, easy read that you'll love if you like the work of Gillian Flynn or Loriane Moriarty.

A total guilty pleasure.

Let’s get this straight right from the start, Amber is not a nice person. She’s manipulative, greedy, jealous and worst of all...extremely smart. So when she sets her sights on having Daphne’s life for her own, she intends to get it. The portion of the book from her point of view is a look into the mind of a determined person with no scruples whatsoever. We’re not really sure why she is just so bad, she just is.

The second half of the book picks up quite a lot, with an alternate perspective providing context for much of what has been going on.

Pros: Once the second half hits, it becomes quite hard to put down.

Cons: Everything is extremely tidy and perhaps one dimensional? This person is very bad, this person is very good...there are no in-betweens.

The Last Mrs. Parrish is a great, easy read for the summer.

I didn't know anything about this book when I got in line for it at the library (normally when the line is 10-15 people long I have a feeling it has "got to be" good), but I had seen a few people I follow on social media reading it so I figured I might as well. When it finally became available I didn't even read the synopsis on the back cover - I just jumped right in. I'm sort of glad I didn't know anything about this one going into it, because it definitely kept me in suspense and guessing about where the story was going. I really enjoyed it. When I was describing it to the hubby I told him it was like a reality TV show plot - where everyone thinks the grass is always greener on the other side... and you don't realize that the green grass is actually green spray-painted cement. I think the catchphrase on the front cover "Some women get everything. Some women get everything they deserve." fits the novel to a T. No spoilers from me - but I really liked how the story was told from the two different perspectives so you can really get a sense of what everyone is feeling (and I actually love that the "author" is actually the pen name of two sisters who write together as one!). Although summer is coming to a close, I think this would be the perfect book to read while laying at the beach or swinging in a hammock - entertaining, suspenseful and thrilling. I would give it a 9 out of 10.

This book was fantastic and definitely not what I expected. I loved the story and how devious the characters were. I thought it was great how we switched to Daphne's perspective half way through, and I could not put the book down.

Easy read, good idea, plot was a bit slow and quite immature/catty. Super graphic unnecessarily, over did and pitted females and the middle class as weak. Not really my choice of fiction novel, but it seemed so highly sought after so I gave it a try. It got better towards the end, interesting to see both POV’s and how it played out. However, it’s not a book I’d recommend. Nonetheless, 3.5 stars for being an easy read to get me out of my reading slump.

The first 300 pages are so boring and slow and it just drags and drags, I stuck with the book as it was recommended by Reese Witherspoon. The book could have been cut in half, it seemed the authors had to hit a certain word count so had lots of unnecessary pages which didn't add to the story or characters. I also spotted an error where it should have read 'enjoying' but it read 'enjoyed' which bugged me. How does this happen, what happened to proof reading. All in all I wouldn't recommend the book I would wait until the movie comes out.

Had to find out how it ended.
Had to skim, a lot of unnecessary smut, cannot believe anyone could actually write this never mind live it.
With real imagination and skill someone could have used this great plot for a good novel.

If I could give this book zero stars, I would.

It has no redeeming qualities. None. Zip. Zero.

Poorly drawn characters - all one dimensional. The good are sickly sweet good. The bad, are like cartoon baddies. I tried to finish this book, and all I could do was gag.

Don't waste any part of your life on this book, especially as there are so many far better books to read.

So this was such a fun read! It will probably be a short review, so that I don't ruin any surprises!

It's fun, to me, to read about the lives of the 1%. The clothing, the houses, the nannies, and the special clubs and societies that make up their daily lives. Amber, the main character, envies these lives and has devised a plan to be the next and last Mrs Parrish. She is a sociopath and has no morals what so ever. The lengths she went to to secure her spot was jaw dropping.

I loved that there were only 3 main characters- home wrecker, wife and husband. I didn't get confused about who was who and were they belonged in the story. The story flows effortlessly and kept me engaged. Plot twists left me surprised and wondering how exactly this story would end. I was not disappointed!
