Good mystery, great ending.
Almost a brilliant film. Really well-acted - Bill Nighy is just perfect and Olivia Cooke is GREAT though I had never heard of her I will look for her other films. Lots of twists and turns with a twist at the end I should have seen coming but did not. Just an excellent whodunit with lavish costumes, sets - all showing the very poor side of Victorian England.
A solid script, great acting, good director, and an excellent twist at the end. What more can a viewer ask of a suspense movie? Two thumbs up!
I like Bill Nighy a lot, and this was well done, like a PBS Masterpiece. It just seemed plotted and contrived. Solid cast, good twist at the end. Glad I saw it, wouldn’t recommend it.
Nice period piece. Found it almost like a Sherlock Holmes story, lots of twists and turns. Acting was very well done, captured my attention from the start to the end. End had a very good twist that wasn't expected but once you found out who the "Golem" was had to wonder why I hadn't figured it out for myself. Great film.
Enjoyed this movie, was not quite sure who the Golem was till the end. Nice film, the theater is gorgeously done, and the characters are well acted. People forget how poor the east enders really were in the lavish Victorian age.
Golem in the title is what caught my attention, but this thriller's title is misleading. It's just a finely made period-piece drama with twists & turns that takes place in London's Limehouse district. Interesting decision by the screenwriters to portray every suspect actually committing one of the serial murders, perhaps to confuse the viewer as to the identity of the real murderer. I think it works. Fine acting by Olivia Booth, Eddie Marsan, and the always dependable Bill Nighy raises the level of this murder mystery.
A very good period piece. It was a surprise ending for me. Times were hard in that part of London, probably still are. Lots of good sets. I enjoyed the Bonus section after watching the movie.
We liked it. It was a fun movie to watch curled up on the couch in the afternoon. I thought the acting was good and the plot was intriguing. The only negative, and this is just my opinion, is that the movie was about 5 minutes too long.
Bad writing, bad acting, bad directing, gory at times. Not at all what we expect from a British
mystery program. Skip this one. Watch the preview, pass on the movie.
