Oddly, most of the projects contain zero 2x4s. But more to the point, there's not a single project here I'd want in my home, the styling has really not aged well. If you need props for a community theater's production of "Heathers," this would be a great place to start.

I found the approach taken in this book to be particularly well-suited to my situation -- a beginner with limited tools and a reluctance to purchase a bunch of tools. In that context, I found the parts of the book that provide an introduction to tools and basic techniques to be very helpful. (The projects themselves didn't interest me as much.) A useful reference to return to.
