Franco came to prominence during the years of David Lloyd George and Woodrow Wilson, yet he lived well into the era of Richard Nixon and Harold Wilson. Having joined the army when he was 15, by 1926 Franco had become the youngest general in Europe, and having survived the Spanish Civil War and World War II, he continued as dictator of Spain until his death in 1975.

Quite possibly the worst book I've ever read. Yes, that's what I think of this 'book'. Just a total 'hatchet job' on Franco where juvenile psycho babble tries to pass for insight. I checked out this 'tome' to gain some knowledge/insight of just what was going on in Spain that would bring a Franco to absolute power. Boy, was I mistaken! By the way, I'm not saying the author should have sung the praises of the generalissimo - but come on.
